Weekend in Review

Friday was cold and gross, and I didn't really want to go out. I went with Nate to his friend's birthday bar excursion at Quenchers. I had never been there before, and liked the place fair enough. It's only 10 minutes walk from my house, has a cool beer selection, lots of seating, and there was a vibraphonist there playing. We stuck around for awhile, then went home to watch Thursday night's shows.

Saturday we woke up early, grabbed the Prius from car share and drove to Ikea. I LOVED driving the Prius. LOVED it. I-GO (the car sharing company I use) also has the honda hybrids, which are what I normally take. The prius was such a smoother ride, easier to handle, and had all the cool dash functions in that monitor in the center! And you just press a power button! No key! It was super awesome. It took me a minute to figure it all out, but I had so much fun driving it. If I can ever afford a car, this will be what I get.

Anyway, Ikea. I needed a new coffee table since I decided to stay in my place another year. I was going to wait until I moved, but now I'm not moving so no sense in using that broken coffee table anymore. (and yes, I know you are supposed to make the obligatory "Ikea is so lame, I'm an adult I need better furniture" bit here but I'm broke. Ikea it is. No shame.) I also bought a shelf to hang on the wall next to my bed so I could get rid of that hideous nightstand I've been using that was left here when I moved in. My room instantly looked better once Nate hung it on the wall for me (thanks buddy!). Now I have all these ideas for the bedroom, most of them include painting a wall or two.

I also bought opaque navy curtains to hang over my living room windows. Downside - wow it's dark in here now. Upside - wow Audrey can't see the people walking by so shes calm(er) and quiet(er). And I still kept my translucent cream colored curtains up, so when I'm home and don't mind Audrey being hyperactive I can just tie back the navy ones. It adds some extra 'flair' to the room. I like it. I'll have to work on the lighting situation in one corner though.

Finally I got a clothes rack because there isn't enough room in my closet for all my clothes. My goal today is to tackle that room (the empty room that is used only for clothes and storage) and get it looking good.

Saturday night we went to Schubas to see my coworkers band. They were really good, and the crowd clearly liked them more than they liked Russian Circles, the headlining act. It was really strange to see him rocking out on stage, when normally we see each other in library-land.

In addition to organizing that other room, I want to give Audrey a bath and clean the bathroom.

In other dog news, Audrey is balding again - which means I've been bad about giving her her melatonin. And I admit it, I've been lax. So back on the drugs for Puprey.
