NYE 06/07

Photos of NYE

Last night was the big New Year's Eve party at the InnJoy. I haven't gone all out for a New Year's Eve probably since the year I went with Kevin, Kristin, Matt (and Paul?) to that one gay bar in Omaha and danced all night. I believe I wasn't even 21 at that point. Therefore, when I got invited to this event I figured it would be a good time to go big for New Year's Eve, a holiday I generally do not enjoy.

The deal for the night was from 9-1 it was open bar and food downstairs. 80 bucks got you in. All my friends were dressed up, and it was really cute. I even painted my nails! Too bad I forgot to buy nail polish remover, so this could get ugly soon.

My friend Virginia informed me to go for the vodka gimlets, as they were strong. I got fairly drunk as a result, and so did the rest of my friends. We danced a lot, acted stupid, got champagne and vodka spilled all over us, and watched Purple Rain on the video screen. Some of us got in a chicken wing throwing fight that was hysterical, and Zaid brought some wings with him to the after party.

When the bar closed we all walked to a friend's apartment for more festivities. The walk had more of the same chicken wing throwing, yelling, fighting, and other stupid drunk crap that ensued at the bar earlier. The party featured a Sparks Fountain. Yes, as in they had one of those fountain things dispensing Sparks. As you may recall, me and Sparks don't always mix. I had one anyway, and so far I'm doing fine. Ed took video interviews of us all about 2006, and I believe I hyped my secret rap project on it (complete with pointing into the camera like a true rapper).

There were several times throughout the night that people would say "I love our friends! I'm so happy!" and I couldn't agree more. Virginia asked me what the best part of 2006 was for me and I instantly said "moving to Chicago." My friends here are so amazing, and I think it's really cool that we all realize that and value our long-standing relationships. I hope to be doing this same party 10 years from now with these same people.
