Conflicted

I'm cheering while Nanci Pelosi is announced during the State of the Union, but at the same time I am disgusted that it took until 2007, my 25th year of life and the 87th year since women got the right to vote (which don't forget was 144 years after America's birth), to see this moment. And it's so gross that George Bush, woman rights-hater and bigot-pig-imbecile extraordinaire, was the one to announce "Madame Speaker." Remember when he offered to help her pick out her drapes? Yeah that was a real step forward.

Listening to him makes me need to take a shower.
