Running and Weekend Update

This past week and a half was a major disaster in regards to my running. My knees started hurting so bad that I couldn't/didn't want to run. So I got nothing accomplished. I'm pretty mad at myself.

So today I went to a running store to get fitted for new running shoes. I went to Fleet Feet, where they let you go running outdoors in a bunch of different pairs, and analyze how you run. Turns out I pronate, meaning my ankles go inward when I land on the ground. I also have absolutely no arch, or as she termed it my arch has collapsed. Essentially, its no surprise that I have knee troubles because I'm giving my self almost no support when I run. So I found a new pair of running shoes after trying about five different kinds, and got hooked up with orthotics for my arch. I'm old. Orthotics! But even just running around the block with those made my knees feel better. Tomorrow I'll get back out there and just suck up the knee pain and keep going.

Last night was a Miskas night, our most recent addition to the roster of regular bars we go to. Miskas is great because its empty, has darts, had 2.50 Blue Moon, and we get to control the jukebox. It's sort of like our own personal party room. Definitely not a cool place or a place to people watch, but its perfect for a quiet night with friends. We then headed to underbar, where one of our friends made a total fool out of himself. Good thing I don't think he or anyone else really cares. It was fun to watch though! I got home at 4 am, stone sober.

I'm about to head out to my friends bands' show, at the Hideout. Driftless Pony Club and May or May Not are having a joint cd release show tonight, with our friend Bald Eagle and his Life During Wartime DJs doing the dance party afterwards. This means that it'll be another late night of good times. I'll try not to let the fact that I have to work tomorrow dampen my current good mood, and enjoy myself tonight.

Sunday after work, JP, Torri, and I are going to a steakhouse! I never go to these things, as I actually sort of don't like steak. But they have tons of fish and chicken options and it looks really fun. 1950s decor, great martini menu, tons of desserts, and two great gals to hang out with. Who could want more? I can't wait to see Torri. She's in her second trimester, already has one adorable baby, and has moved to the south side, so its hard to get to see her. It'll be relaxing to have a girl dinner.
