Ideas and Agendas

I just had an idea in the shower. If myspace had existed my entire life, what would my music and movie interests be over the years? As in, in 1988 I would surely have put C&C Music Factory on there, and in 1994 it'd be overcome by ska or trance (the shame). In 2000 it would have been all midwest hardcore bands. Movies are harder to come up with. I think I'm going to do the music one here later. I invite any of you to do the same, it would certainly be interesting.

I got dinner with Torri and JP last night, and it was really nice. Then we switched out Torri for Miller, and hit up the village tap. By the end of the night I was most definitely in a bad state. I haven't been out until bar time two nights in a row in forever, and it certainly shows on me today.

I'm going to go to Trader Joes here for the first time. I miss my TJ food!

I finished two books last week: Closer by Dennis Cooper, and Memoirs of My Melancholy Whores by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Closer, written in 1989, was essentially the exact same premise and book as his most recent, The Sluts. A series of rotating narrators all loosely intertwined, all ending up with gay snuff. I think I'm done with this author.

Melancholy Whores was really good. I don't feel qualified enough to comment on 'real' literature, so I'll just leave it at that. A high quality quick read.

Tonight I need to watch Transamerica, as I've had it at home for over a week now.
